We are currently looking for a Ceramic Engineer to lead our Glaze Making Department and our Research and Development efforts. In this role you will work very closely with our Plant Manager and Creative Director. You would manage all aspects of our glaze department, including ordering and purchasing glaze formulations, glaze production and monitoring of first quality glazing. You would also develop new production efficient glazes and work to improve our clay bodies to increase first quality percentages and improve our production. You will work closely with the production and design team to deliver new products in a timely matter.

You will be based out of our Aromas, CA manufacturing plant and report to our Plant Manager. In This Role You Will:
• Lead our ceramic engineering and glaze development efforts
• Manage our glaze team, overseeing materials purchasing and quality, glaze production, application, and maintenance, and glaze color engineering
• Develop new production efficient glazes for roller hearth (fast fire high velocity burners) and periodic kilns
• Clay body development and maintenance
• Support Creative Director and new product development, including everything from ideation to exploration to prototyping and integration of new product into the Fireclay production workflow
• Support Plant Manager with regard to manufacturing equipment selection and maintenance
• Communicate regularly with marketing, sales, and production teams.
• Establish and adhere to clear development timelines.
• Create and maintain an archival system for new, custom and existing products.
• Continued learning through hands on experience

You will be a great fit if you:
• BS Degree: ceramics, ceramic engineering, or other related
• 5+ years ceramic engineering experience
• Project Management experience a plus
• Proven ability to lead teams
• Knowledge and appreciation of Lean Manufacturing
• Team player - you will be taking direction from both the marketing and production sides of the business
• Spanish speaking is a plus
